Brainfuse HelpNow

Online, on demand live learning support for core subjects for K to Grade 12 students, and some support for adult learners. Online tutors are literally available to chat with students 12 p.m. – 11 p.m. Students can also get feedback on written assignments they send in ahead and adults can get job search help like live interview coaching.

 Linked In Learning

This collection of  16,000+ business, creative, and tech courses is taught by experts in the field. Certificates confirm course completion. Courses can even be selected by entering the job title of interest then exploring recommended, related courses. (Save the cost of subscription cost of $240/year by getting an EPL card for free.)

Mango Languages

Access instruction for learning over 70 languages including learning English as a Second Language. Learning is self-paced and based on practical conversations. You listen to native speakers then practice and improve by recording your voice and comparing it to the native pronunciation.

The international English language testing system (IELTS) is the most popular high stakes English language test used for academic, employment, or immigration purposes. Libraries have a limited amount of print versions that are always checked out so online preparation support is an invaluable resource for anyone needing to complete the IELTS exam.

 Are you or someone in your family a talented musician or are you just really interested in local music? Check out Capital City Records where you can download music from local musicians whose work has been juried into the collection over the past five years. A call for submissions goes out several times a year so there are opportunities to have that musical talent acknowledged and shared.

Creativebug

A very popular site, Creativebug has literally thousands of educational videos focused on arts & crafts, taught by recognized design experts and artists. Topics seem unlimited and a quick search shows video instruction on quilting, tie dying, drawing, embroidering, perfume and body salve making, sewing, creating with leather, looking after plants, ….you name it. Content is organized into Classes, Daily Practice, and Resources and there are new releases each month.

 Hoopla

One of the most popular sites, this free digital media service includes audio books, eBooks, TV shows, movies, music albums, and comics. You can set the Hoopla to display only ‘kid-appropriate content’. Titles are always available and can be borrowed at any time to a monthly limit. Downloads can be enjoyed on any digital devices in the home.
