Fire and Fun - Staff Summer Photos
Are you feeling sad about summer passing? Well, you can right step back into the sun, fun, and special times by enjoying this collection of GSS staff photos.
Staff were invited to send in their favorite summer photos to see which most clearly said ‘summer!’ to our leaders. Before their retreat in September, Leadership Team members reviewed the photos and selected the 3 that shouted ‘summer 2023!’ to them. There were votes for all the photos as each communicated the ‘fun’ or ‘relaxation’ that only summer brings, but the photo that leaders chose most often, also said ‘fire’. And wasn’t that a definite theme through our 2023 summer?
Check out this photo gallery to see which images put you back into the summer spirit and to see what made summer special to some GSS colleagues…
#1 image of Summer 2023 - ‘Smokey Sunset’ by Robynn Strikwerda, Manager of CAT Program. Taken while raising a glass at the annual Wabamun Lake Sail West regatta.
#2 image of Summer 2023 - ‘Kicking Back in Kelowna’ by Margaret Paliwoda, Administrative Manager and Executive Assistant. Taken on a relaxing family vacation that, fortunately, happened before the Okanagan fires set in.
#3 image of Summer 2023 - ‘Doggone Fun’ sent in by Marcel Wichink, Support Worker, MSD. Showing him chillin’ with his good buddy, Lugh, in the North Saskatchewan River just before Drayton Valley. (Ask Marcel about the great camping spot he knows there.)
‘What a View’ sent in by Crystal McCarthy-Nelson, Peer Support Worker, SCS, showing her checking out some stunning Vancouver Island sites this summer.
‘Oceans of Fun’ sent in by Dawn-Marie Diab, Director of Human Resources and Operations who got to play in the water while holidaying in Lebanon with her family.
‘New Adventures’ taken by Michelle Valiquette, Manager, George’s House, who spent part of the summer exploring open water pools and pyramids at Chechen Itza in Mexico.
‘Jammin’ in the Gazebo’ taken by Lucy Rachynski, Accreditation Communication Manager, while enjoying the Blueberry Bluegrass Festival in Stony Plain.
‘Super-Special Summer’ sent in by Katie Jensen, LPN, at George’s House whose amazing wedding bouquet is displayed on top of her grandpa’s 1960 Mercury Parklane.
And these just in…
‘Ice cream truck!’ sent in by Tara Sobey, Senior Manager, Balwin/MST, on a special outing with her son, two godsons, and family friend. Definitely a summer treat in Edmonton.
And, finally, ‘List, List, List’, a photo from Lindy Dowhaniuk, Director of Emergency Services, whose summer looks productive but maybe not quite as relaxing as everyone else’s. Maybe ‘winter vacation in the sun’ is on one of the lists….
