New to GSS—Holyrood Program!
Empowering Self-Determination at Holyrood Supportive Housing
In Southeast Edmonton lies Holyrood, a supportive housing site for individuals struggling with complex life circumstances. This site will employ a compassionate approach, providing tools to residents, fostering self-determination and long-term recovery.
Personalized Recovery Plans
At Holyrood, each resident begins their journey with a personalized recovery plan. These plans are tailored to the individual's unique needs, strengths, and goals. By involving residents in the creation of their recovery plans, residents take ownership of their journey from the very start. This empowerment is a critical step in developing self-determination. Residents of Holyrood will work towards a goal they set for themselves. Staff will support residents in attaining their goal.
Skill-Building
Holyrood will work with residents on skill-building designed to equip residents with practical tools for everyday life. This will be offered through the Primary Case Manager assigned who will cover a range of topics, including recovery capital, future goals, and financial literacy. In the process of gaining essential skills, residents build confidence in their ability to navigate life's challenges independently.
Peer Support Networks
One of the most powerful tools at Holyrood will be residents and peers. Residents are encouraged to participate in group activities and to connect with other residents. The goal will be to create community and belonging, allowing residents to share their experiences and learn from one another. The mutual support and accountability fostered in these groups are vital for developing self-reliance and resilience. This will include connecting residents with supportive outside groups as appropriate.
Ongoing Support
Recovery is a lifelong journey, and Holyrood is committed to providing ongoing support to residents. Through ongoing programs such as alumni groups, and continued access to counseling services and case management, Holyrood ensures residents have the resources they need to maintain their recovery and continue developing self-determination.
Holyrood will be more than just a place to overcome addiction; it is a nurturing environment where individuals are equipped with the tools to reclaim their lives. By focusing on personalized care, skill development, peer support, education, and ongoing support, Holyrood empowers its residents to develop the self-determination necessary for lasting recovery. Here, every step taken is a step towards a brighter, self-directed future.
