Season’s Greetings from Our CEO

Lorette sending greetings from her COVID office.

Well, 2020 wasn’t what anyone expected. No one thought we’d be in the clutches of COVID for most of the year and into 2021. But now there’s hope!

Just knowing that vaccinations are happening makes a huge difference. And we need the encouragement. This is the time of year we may have looked forward to celebrating and spending time with family and special friends. But COVID restrictions are tighter than ever so, instead, we’re being asked to keep on isolating.

We can look forward to the end of COVID though, so let’s stay vigilant just a little longer. Let’s keep on doing the things that have kept us, our clients, and our families safe. And let’s focus on preserving our mental health as we move into the coldest, darkest part of winter.

  • This could be the time to start something new and positive. Is there a hobby you’ve thought of exploring? We can use these quieter months to develop new interests and skills.

  • Staying active is more of challenge now but is more important than ever. Gyms are closed and the temperature is dropping so we may have to create fitness equipment from the heavy containers in our cupboards and closets. Even a set of stairs can be a handy way to stay active.

  • Maybe the simplest way to cheer ourselves up is by cheering someone else up. Is there a shut-in relative, neighbor, or friend you can call? Maybe someone isolating due to COVID exposure? What about those old friends we have lost touch with? They’d probably all appreciate a call.

  • And remember, if you want to talk to someone for more support, do use our Employee Assistance Program.  Check Bamboo for the most convenient chat, email, and phone options.

Before leaving 2020 behind, take time to congratulate yourselves and each other. During one of the most challenging year of our lives, we’ve stayed strong and, overall, safe from COVID. That is due to everyone’s diligence, commitment, and patience. Thank you all for your attention to safety. And, equally important, thank you for continuing to make our services available to the vulnerable individuals in our programs. That support can mean so much to people who may have few other supports in their lives.

We are heading into a quieter Christmas season than normal. But may this time of peace strengthen you and those around you as we move forward to a brighter, happier, and healthier New Year.
