Unity Manor Artists Go Public
the first gss ‘art walk happened…
at Unity Manor in late August. The Voices of Trust Client Advisory Committee organized the event in combination with their first annual neighborhood barbeque. An invitation went out to the community and the show was on!
Five Unity Manor artists displayed their creations and, Manager, Nicole Webber, is hoping this is an annual event so that more creative Unity Manor residents will take part.
Community members came to check out the art and the burgers. One couple brought two children which, Nicole said, really touched participants’ hearts because it showed neighbors trusted them enough to bring their kids. The family was chatting with an artist while one of the children admired her painting and the artist gifted the painting to the child. That generosity was noted in this message of thanks to the site:
Community member message: Just wanted to give a shoutout to @NicoleWebber for organizing Friday’s BBQ/art walk at Unity Manor. We had a nice time chatting with staff and one of the residents even gave my daughter a painting she was admiring. Thanks for hosting!
And thanks to the Lorette Garrick, CEO, and other GSS leaders who also came to enjoy the afternoon. There was lots of agreement that an event like this should happen again to showcase the creativity of GSS clients. Here are examples of works from the first GSS Art Walk for you to enjoy.
